Dr John Grider

Dr John Grider,who some say bears a faint resemblence to Tom Selleck,  graduated from the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1973. He practiced in Northport, Alabama, Monroeville, Alabama, and Ft Walton Beach, Florida before Opening The Pet Clinic in 1987.

Dr Grider is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, The Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and the South Central Alabama Veterinary Medical Association. He has served as a member of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association’s Executive Board and as President of the South Central Alabama Veterinary Medical Association. In 2004, Governor Bob Riley appointed Dr Grider to a four year term on the Alabama Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and reappointed him to a second term in 2008. He served as President of this board from 2007 to 2008. He is also a member and President of the Monroe County Animal Control Authority which is responsible for overseeing the Monroe County Animal Shelter.

Dr. Grider is married to Francine Weaver Grider. They have a grown son, Jason, who is married to Lauren, a veterinarian in Huntsville. John and Francine live on the outskirts of Peterman, Alabama, with a spoiled cat and two attack Chihuahuas, and a 160 lb Mastiff who thinks she is a chihuahua.
